Let me first say that I’m a huge fan of Hootsuite. I’ve used both free and Enterprise versions of the platform for many years and they’re very valuable for streamlining content to multiple accounts. With that said, Hootsuite has its limits. If you’re only using Hootsuite for posting to Facebook and Twitter you can stop reading right here. On the other hand, if you’ve been using Hootsuite to post to G+ listen up!

The G+ platform allows for targeted sharing capabilities unlike Facebook and Twitter. You can easily share information with communities that are relavent to your posts. Facebook and Twitter only allow sharing posts to your main timeline or feed. Engagement increases drastically when you share a post to targeted communities, compared to sharing a post as ‘Public’.

Unfortunately Hootsuite does not allow sharing posts from the dashboard to targeted G+ communities. When sharing posts from Hootsuite to G+ they’re automatically generated to ‘Public’. It’s definitely worth taking the extra step to log in to your G+ dashboard and share posts directly to relevant communities.

Do you share posts to targeted G+ communities? How does this method work for you compared to sharing posts as ‘Public’?
